On 06 August 2025, during an official mission to Rodrigues, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology and Innovation, Dr. The Honorable Avinash Ramtohul, presented the “Blueprint for Mauritius – A Bridge to the Future: Digital Transformation 2025–2029” to the Commissioners and Senior Officers of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA).
The blueprint outlines an ambitious, smart and inclusive roadmap for accelerating digital transformation across the Republic of Mauritius – including Rodrigues – over the next five years. During his presentation, Dr. Ramtohul emphasised the strategic pillars and enablers of the national digital agenda: connectivity, digital governance, innovation, Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy, cyber security, data protection and smart infrastructure.
The Minister highlighted that Rodrigues is an integral partner in this national vision, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to ensure that every Rodriguan is actively engaged and empowered in this digital journey.
“We are building a digital future where every Rodriguan has access, opportunity and a voice,” declared Dr. Ramtohul. He elaborated on key projects for the deployment of smart public services, digital skills development programs and the promotion of local talent and entrepreneurship.
This session marks the beginning of a series of consultations with local authorities and stakeholders. Additional working sessions are planned to ensure that the blueprint is implemented with local input and aligned with the specific needs of Rodrigues.
The visit underscores the government’s resolve to bridge digital divides, boost regional development and harness the power of technology to transform the life of every citizen.
