Strengthening digital ties: Singapore and Mauritius explore future cooperation

GIS – 10 July 2025: In a bid to strengthen cooperation in digitalisation the Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Mauritius, Mr Lim Ming Yan, paid a courtesy call yesterday evening on the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, at the seat of his Ministry in Ebene.

In a statement following the meeting Minister Ramtohul described the discussions as fruitful, with a strong focus on future collaboration in the field of digitalisation. He highlighted Singapore’s advanced technological expertise and recalled previous successful partnerships with Singaporean counterparts, which contributed to the digitisation of Customs procedures and the development of the National Identity Card system.

The Minister further recalled the ongoing efforts to accelerate technological advancement within the country, while acknowledging Singapore’s remarkable progress in the sector. He underlined that promising opportunities exist for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the adoption of proven solutions through the Government-to-Government (G2G) partnership. On this note, Dr. Ramtohul reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining and deepening collaboration with the Government of Singapore.

For his part, High Commissioner Lim Ming Yan acknowledged that key topics were discussed, including the Ministry’s current digital blueprint. He expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the meeting outlining areas for meaningful collaboration between the two Governments.
