A new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled \u2018Reporting of water leakage service\u2019 was integrated into the KOREK! App, marking another milestone in Government\u2019s drive to digitalise public services and enhance service delivery to citizens. This new service was launched by the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, yesterday in Eb\u00e8ne.<\/p>

The General Manager of the Central Water Authority (CWA), Mr Shyam Thanoo, and other personalities were also present.<\/p>

The new feature enables members of the public to report water leakage incidents directly through the KOREK! App by submitting the location of the leak together with photographs. The digital platform also allows users to track the status of their complaints in real time, providing greater transparency while reducing the need to contact the CWA hotline.<\/p>

In his address, Minister Ramtohul underlined that KOREK! is a key pillar of the Government\u2019s digital transformation agenda and reflects its commitment to delivering seamless, citizen-centric public services. He highlighted that the application consolidates several Government services into a single digital gateway, enabling citizens to access services conveniently from their mobile phones without the need to travel.<\/p>

The Minister pointed out that the water leakage reporting feature represents the first AI-enabled service integrated into KOREK!. The AI component assists in judging the severity of reported cases, allowing the CWA to prioritise interventions more efficiently and improve the management of water resources.<\/p>

Dr Ramtohul emphasised that the transition from traditional reporting methods to a digital platform will facilitate faster triage of cases through the submission of photographs and location details. He added that, while the toll-free hotline 170 remains operational, the application offers citizens an additional channel for reporting incidents and monitoring the progress of their complaints.<\/p>

He further dwelt on forthcoming amendments to the data protection legislation aimed at strengthening the legal framework and ensuring greater accountability for offences relating to personal data.<\/p>

Mr Thanoo, for his part, stated that the introduction of the digital reporting service forms part of the CWA\u2019s commitment to modernise its operations and enhance customer service through ICT. He noted that the initiative will facilitate faster identification and response to water leakages, thereby contributing to improved water resource management.<\/p>

He also appealed to members of the public to make full use of the new feature to report water leakages and reassured that the CWA will respond promptly to reported cases.<\/p>
