A two-day Co-Creation Workshop on Mauritius\u2019 Digital Innovation Ecosystem was officially launched, this morning at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Eb\u00e8ne, by the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The workshop is part of the Digital Innovation Profile for Mauritius, providing a comprehensive assessment of the country\u2019s innovation capacity and maturity, with the aim of helping stakeholders adapt to an evolving digital landscape while promoting a competitive, sustainable, and ICT-driven economy.<\/p>

It is organised by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, in collaboration with the Mauritius Digital Promotion Authority (MDPA), the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).<\/p>

The Head of Digital Innovation Service at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Mr Mohamed Ba, along with ICTA\u2019s Officer in Charge, Mr Jerome Louis, MDPA\u2019s Officer in Charge, Mr Kaleem Usmani, as well as other distinguished personalities, attended the opening ceremony.<\/p>

In his address, Minister Ramtohul highlighted the key objectives of the workshop, which include reviewing the current state of Mauritius\u2019s digital innovation ecosystem, validating its identified strengths and gaps, strengthening collaboration among key stakeholders, and formulating targeted, actionable recommendations to further accelerate innovation across the country.<\/p>

Dr Ramtohul observed that several assessments have already been conducted on the level of digital innovation achieved in Mauritius, and that their findings will be validated during the workshop. He also highlighted that the Super App Korek! is continuously being enhanced with new applications, with the goal of becoming a one-stop platform for Mauritians to access Government e-services.<\/p>

Furthermore, he recalled that Cabinet agreed, on 26 January 2026, for Mauritius to adopt ISO\/IEC 27001, a globally recognised standard for information security management by providing a systematic, risk-based framework for establishing, implementing, and continually improving an Information Security Management System. This framework is expected enhance the country\u2019s attractiveness to potential investors, he explained.<\/p>

For his part, Mr Ba provided highlighted the role of the ITU, the oldest agency of the United Nations, with a history spanning more than 160 years.<\/p>

He also elaborated on the importance of a digital ecosystem, describing it as a network of interconnected organisations and stakeholders from various sectors who collaborate to address challenges faced by communities and improve service delivery and innovation outcomes.<\/p>

As for Mr Louis, he remarked that Mauritius has made significant progress in its digital transformation journey, while stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation among various stakeholder groups to sustain and accelerate this progress. ICTA will continue working to ensure that the benefits of digital transformation remain inclusive and accessible to all, he added.<\/p>

Mr Usmani, for his part, enumerated some of the key themes which will be addressed during the two-day workshop. He highlighted the participation of stakeholders from both the public and private sectors and encouraged all participants to engage actively in the discussions and exchanges throughout the event.<\/p>
